No
one likes the idea of surgery. Sometimes it's a necessary evil, especially if
you are an athlete. Before you agree to go under the knife, there are a few
things you need to know. These suggestions will help you keep a level head and also
prepare you for what lies ahead, should surgery be the only option. This way
you can be a success story, just like many athletes who have the same
experiences.
TRY SOME OTHER AVENUES FIRST
Most surgeons will tell you right off the bat that surgery is not the first step. Sometimes, you have to try other things therapy, pain killers or any other thing of that nature. You could also try creams for joints and anti-inflammatory medicines. These things, however, are only meant to bring you a short-term relief. If the problem still persists you might need the surgery. Speak to your doctor to be sure. You will feel better going under surgery knowing that you’ve explored other options first.
BE PREPARED FOR A LONG RECOVERY
Surgeries like this may require a long recovery time but, it will be very beneficial for you in the long run. You will need physical therapy and you might have to take it slow for sure, but it's all part of the natural healing process. You might even have to put certain things on hold in your life just to see the whole thing through. If you are prepared for all of this, then speak with your doctor.
